The main thing to remember is that you need to start dealing with the problem as quickly as possible, since any delay can aggravate the situation.

How to remove smell from carpet

When choosing a carpet cleaning method, you first need to determine the source of the unpleasant odor. In most cases, these are various types of contamination, but some textile products may smell like chemicals after purchase. This situation is due to the quality of the synthetic materials used in the manufacture of this product. If there are smokers in the family, then tobacco smoke ingrained into the floor covering can also cause discomfort for the residents.

Insufficiently dried carpet after some time acquires the smell of mold and dampness. In this case, getting rid of the consequences of improper use of the product will be very problematic. To prevent this, the first time liquid gets on the carpet, it must be removed before it is absorbed and dries.

Before you decide for yourself how to most effectively remove unpleasant odors from your carpet, you should familiarize yourself with common cleaning methods. Which method is right for you depends on the type of pollution, the reasons for its occurrence and the timing of its occurrence.

Thus, experts identify the following popular carpet cleaning options:

  • washing with powder and subsequent airing of the product;
  • use of various chemicals;
  • baking soda (great for removing vomit, fish and alcohol odors);
  • professional carpet cleaning;
  • surface treatment with potassium permanganate, vinegar or hydrogen peroxide;
  • removal of stains and unpleasant odors is also possible thanks to quartz treatment (several ultraviolet lamps small size).

How to remove any smell from a carpet without spending a lot of time and effort on it? The most in an efficient way is professional carpet cleaning, but this method will cost much more than purchase household products for cleaning textiles or using folk recipes.

Vomiting

If there are small children or pets in the apartment, then you are familiar with the problem of removing vomit from nausea and vomiting from furniture and carpet. The vomit leaves an unpleasant odor. While cleaning the coating from this type of contamination is not so difficult, the stench can only be eliminated using special means.

To eliminate unpleasant odors from textiles, you can use:

  • a solution of soda and water (sometimes washing powder is added);
  • funds for manual cleaning carpeting;
  • odor neutralizers (such preparations are suitable for different types of pollution);
  • special means for removing pet stains.

You should start cleaning by removing the remaining vomit - for this purpose, use rags, soft brushes or sponges for washing dishes. Please note that in this case it is not recommended to wet them too much. hot water, because then the unpleasant aroma can become even more intense and penetrate deeper into the surface.

The most in a simple way Cleaning the carpet is the use of a soda solution. The contaminated area must be treated with a special composition and left for two to three hours (until it dries completely). Then the coating should be thoroughly vacuumed to remove soda and traces of liquid.

Due to the fact that soda has an alkaline base, and vomit is acidic, a chemical reaction occurs, as a result of which the irritating odor disappears.

If there are large, stubborn stains, baking soda solution will not be enough to clean the carpet. If you find yourself in such a situation, don’t be upset, because there are other equally effective options for removing pet marks.

Today, stores offer a wide selection of different chemicals for cleaning textiles, including carpets. Most of them have the ability to effectively absorb unpleasant odors.

Before purchasing, be sure to read the instructions for use and remember, the higher the alkali level, the better the result.

Beer

If you accidentally spill a glass of beer on the carpet, the first thing you need to do is apply a small amount of washing powder to the dirty area, and then wipe off the residue with a damp cloth. Experts also recommend periodically washing the rag. In conclusion, the surface must be carefully treated with lightly salted water - this is how improvised means can be used for cleaning.

You can also dissolve a tablespoon of citric acid or regular lemon in one liter of water (it wouldn’t hurt to add a few drops of vinegar). Use the resulting mixture to treat the area with the stain, then remove it with dry towels. excess moisture, otherwise mold may form.

Hydrogen peroxide is great for cleaning light-colored carpets. It effectively fights unpleasant odors and stains from beer, wine and food products. Wet the dirt with water, let it dry and sprinkle with salt. After twenty minutes, remove the residue with a vacuum cleaner.

Another way to remove stubborn beer stains is vodka, but you need to work with it very carefully.

If you spent yesterday evening in fun company while watching football, then today you are definitely tormented by the question of how to quickly remove the smell of beer from clothes, furniture or the leather interior of a car. The following recommendations will help you:

  • An excellent absorber of beer odor in a car is a soap solution with the addition of one tablespoon of dry ammonia (it can be purchased at any pharmacy). This option is best if you need to clean the leather interior. Simply apply the composition to the contaminated surface and wipe the area with napkins after complete drying.

  • A particularly pressing question is how to remove the smell of beer from clothes. In this case, you should prepare the following solution: glycerin, wine alcohol and ammonia, water - keep the proportions 1:1:1:8. This method can also be used to clean various textiles (furniture or decor).

  • To clean a sofa from beer stains, soak a large piece of cloth in a weak solution of water and vinegar and place it on the stained area of the furniture. After a few hours, the unpleasant odor will evaporate, as will the stains that were its source.

Fish

Regular kitchen salt will help clean the carpet from fish stains - it copes well with stubborn food residues and perfectly absorbs unpleasant odors. For this purpose, you can also use such improvised means as a soap solution, which has the mildest effect, and a vinegar solution.

The use of special chemicals may be required only if the marks have been on the product for several weeks. In such a situation, the wisest thing to do would be to have the carpet dry cleaned.

Vinegar

Methods for cleaning carpet using vinegar have already been presented above. Such methods are very effective, however, as is known, this substance has a characteristic odor that can hardly be called pleasant. It can be difficult to remove such an aroma from furniture or carpet, but you can cope with it if you know some of the subtleties of the procedure.

Due to the large dimensions of the product, it is not possible to wash it with detergent, so a special solution should be prepared. You need to mix two tablespoons of washing powder with one spoon of ammonia and add five liters of water to the resulting mixture.

After this, treat the surface of the carpet and do not forget to remove the foam as you work (this should be done with a rag soaked in warm water). Let the product dry for several hours, but if time does not wait, use a vacuum cleaner or other drying methods.

If you plan to use dishwashing detergent to clean your carpets, be aware that they should only be applied to a surface that has been dampened with water.

The smell of new carpet

Don't rely on store-bought flavors essential oils and air freshener. If the carpet is used incorrectly, their use will not bring any results. Such products are especially often used when purchasing a new carpet in order to eliminate the smell of chemicals.

First of all, we get rid of the reasons for the stench of the newly purchased product. It could be:

  • special chemical treatment of the top layer of the carpet;
  • the presence of latex or adhesive backing of the carpet.

In most cases, store sellers warn customers about a possible unpleasant odor, which should disappear within a week (without trying to eliminate it with improvised means). The best option in this case would be to frequently ventilate the room. It is also recommended to clean the carpet in the usual way - that is, use a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth.

Please note that over-wetting the carpet may create an unpleasant, musty odor. To get rid of it, you need to carefully dry the carpet without hanging it in the sun.

Tobacco smoke

Tobacco smoke leaves behind an unpleasant aroma; it is most strongly absorbed into textiles. That is why, if such a smell occurs, you should immediately wash all the curtains, blankets, and bedspreads you have at home. You should also clean all carpets - you can use a washing vacuum cleaner and a special shampoo that contains various absorbents.

An excellent absorber of the smell of tobacco smoke are chemicals such as “Vanish”, they not only eliminate external signs of pollution, but also fight the cause of their occurrence.

Initially, you need to apply a small amount of the substance to a thoroughly cleaned surface and distribute the resulting foam using a mop. Don't worry about getting your carpet too wet; this won't cause mold. To further protect yourself, after the carpet is completely dry, carefully vacuum it again.

Dampness and mold

A common problem with old carpets is mold and its unpleasant odor. The reason for this phenomenon may be excess moisture accumulated on the pile. Maybe you washed the item incorrectly or didn’t dry it completely, or dried it too slowly. As practice shows, the aroma of mold can appear within two days after improper surface treatment.

The first pockets of fungus appear at the base of the carpet, as it takes longer to dry than the rest of the carpet.

In addition to mold, due to excessive moisture in the carpet, various putrefactive bacteria may appear on it, which also have a specific smell (dampness, old age, rottenness). Such microbes are dangerous to humans and you need to start eliminating them as quickly as possible.

If mold has formed on the surface of the carpet, or you smell its characteristic aroma, then we clean the carpet with special factory-made preparations - fungicides. This method effectively removes marks and fights the cause of the fungus.

However, before you start cleaning, you should know two rules:

  • It is forbidden to stay in a room with moldy carpeting (if cleaning has not been carried out within a week, it is best to send the product to a dry cleaner for inspection or throw it away).
  • An unpleasant smell bothers you, and you drown it out with aromatic products. In this case, such an approach is pointless; it is impossible to fight the smell. Only after removing the mold can we talk about eliminating the unpleasant odor.

Now in stores you can find a large number of different odor absorbers, including antifungal drugs for mold. Spray products are considered the most effective; they are not only convenient to treat the surface, but are also easy to wash off with a wet cloth.

Before purchasing, be sure to pay attention to the product instructions to determine whether it is suitable for cleaning your carpet (take into account the material from which the product is made).

The spray only gets rid of germs, so continue cleaning with detergents in order to completely remove all traces of this unpleasant phenomenon.

Effective odor absorbers

There are also universal means to combat various kinds of unpleasant odors. In most cases, they are presented in the form of aerosols, household powders and soluble substances:

  • Popular neutralizers include products from the brands Line, STAIN&ODOR REMOVER, ORANGE-OXY. First, the surface is cleaned of the top layer of dirt and dust, after which they begin to treat the carpet with a composition diluted in water.

  • The natural odor absorber Bio-GM is perfect for removing mold and other fungi; in addition to its main function, it destroys pathogenic microorganisms without destroying the structure of the product.

  • If you prefer wet carpet cleaning, then pay attention to the Break Down product. This is a unique deodorant with enzymes that not only eliminates unpleasant odors, but also fights the root cause.

Such products are simply necessary when cleaning public institutions, smoking rooms or toilets. Their advantages include low price, high efficiency and the ability to be used in conjunction with a cleaning solution.

In conclusion, professional cleaning is best for most serious carpet stains. By asking a dry cleaner for help, they will choose the right cleaning method for you, which you can use if this problem arises in the future. The center's staff will carry out the cleaning without causing any harm to the structure of the carpet.

If you cannot afford professional carpet cleaning, then know that when cleaning at home, it is also not recommended to use large amounts of chemicals and concentrated detergents.

How to clean a carpet with home remedies (2 videos)

When choosing flooring, we are guided by considerations of practicality, durability and aesthetic appeal. One of the most important points It remains possible to easily clean it. Carpet raises many questions from housewives about this. How to easily and quickly clean it at home?

Features of carpet with different piles

Carpet requires careful attention: it cannot be knocked out, it cannot be wetted too much, and it is problematic to wash and dry. When choosing a coating, pay attention to the pile; not only does it depend on its characteristics appearance or wear resistance, but also ease of cleaning.

Materials from which carpet pile is most often made:

  • natural (wool, linen, cotton, coconut fibers, etc.);
  • artificial (nylon, polyacrylic, polyester, polypropylene);
  • mixed.

Natural materials are environmentally friendly and have low thermal conductivity. But they have plenty of disadvantages:

  • high price;
  • poor wear resistance;
  • whimsical care;
  • accumulation of static electricity.

The artificial materials from which carpet pile is made have their own characteristics.

  1. Nylon is durable and practical to use.
  2. Polypropylene is the cheapest material, but the quality matches the cost.
  3. Polyester feels like wool, which has won the favor of consumers.
  4. Acrylic is widely used in household premises. The only disadvantage of this kind of pile is that it rolls off when cleaning, so you can’t rub it. Acrylic is often combined with other artificial or natural materials.

A pile of more than 1 cm is considered long. Its appearance and service life depend on the structure (loop, slot or mixed). Each type has advantages during operation:

  • multi-level loop pile hides dents;
  • the cropped one shows no signs of wear;
  • split with low wear resistance and easy to clean.

The most beautiful and high-quality is multi-level loop-cut pile.

Which coating base is best for cleaning?

Synthetic and natural materials are used as the basis for the canvas.

  1. Jute. Natural is susceptible to mold, rot, and rapid abrasion. Its care is limited to dry cleaning. Synthetic jute is moisture resistant, but its hard surface can damage the coating on which the carpet is laid.
  2. Rubber. Due to its high strength, carpet with a rubberized base is laid in public places with high traffic. This base is not afraid of water, but in order to dry it, you need to completely remove the coating.
  3. Felt. For carpet, an artificial version is more often used. It has excellent thermal insulation characteristics, is easy to install and maintain, and is not afraid of moisture.
  4. Textile. Due to the complexity of manufacturing, the base made from it is the most expensive. But the material has excellent characteristics that justify the cost. Textile-based carpet can be cleaned using a washing vacuum cleaner, foam or dry powders.
  5. Foamed latex. Good to use due to heat retention and sound insulation. It is durable, fireproof, but has a service life of only 6 years. Then the base loses its elasticity and begins to crumble. The properties of the material are similar to rubber: it is moisture resistant, but takes a long time to dry.

Which foundation is better? It depends on the purpose of the room and the surface on which the carpet is laid.

  1. Felt is suitable if there is an expensive floor covering underneath.
  2. In hallways, summer areas, and places with high traffic, it is appropriate to lay carpet with a rubber backing. It is moisture-resistant and wear-resistant.
  3. For children's rooms it is better to use a synthetic base. It does not cause allergies and is easy to clean.

A special backing for carpet extends its service life and simplifies cleaning, so don’t skimp on purchasing it.

How can you clean carpet in a house or apartment?

The cleaning method is selected depending on the material from which the coating is made. The carpet pile is treated with special compounds that prevent rapid contamination. Too frequent processing washes away this layer. Accordingly, the more often you clean, the faster the carpet becomes dirty. You can remove stains on it in different ways:

  • dry or wet cleaning;
  • cleaning with a vacuum cleaner;
  • foam cleaning;
  • removal of contaminants using professional means.

Natural materials cannot be dried quickly after wet cleaning (with foam or a washing vacuum cleaner, for example, Karcher). Therefore, it is better to use special dry compounds. You can wipe the carpet with a well-wrung out cloth, but not more than once a month.

Synthetic materials make cleaning easier. You can use a washing vacuum cleaner provided that maximum moisture is removed.

Pay attention! If the carpet is adhesive-based, wet cleaning can deform it.

The need to remove the floor covering also depends on the method chosen. Dry cleaning is an easy and safe process for the product: apply, wait, vacuum. After wet cleaning, the carpet and underlay must be dried.

Cleaning products that help clean carpets and remove stains

There are several types of carpet cleaners: shampoos, aerosols and dry powders. The principle of their operation is the same: having collected particles of dirt at the base and along the length of the pile, foam or powder lifts it to the top, from where it is easily removed with a vacuum cleaner.

  1. For coatings that cannot be heavily moistened, the ideal option to wipe off dirt is dry powders. Try using baking soda. Spread it overnight in an even layer over the surface, and vacuum it up in the morning.
  2. Once a month, any coating can be washed with shampoo or foam.
  3. The aerosol is good because it does not need to be diluted with water. During application, it is possible to get rid of stains, the carpet absorbs less moisture and does not require drying.

Please note: you cannot mix the products; the resulting chemical reaction can damage the carpet.

Routine cleaning: removing dust and unpleasant odors

Routine cleaning should be done weekly.

  1. Carpets on a natural base and with natural pile just need to be vacuumed.
  2. If you want to refresh the coating, use baking soda; it absorbs dust and unpleasant odors.
  3. For natural-pile carpet, do not use a vacuum cleaner frequently. This coating takes a long time to dry, and a humid environment promotes the growth of bacteria and unpleasant odors.

General cleaning at home

Depending on the material of the pile and the base, you can use dry, wet cleaning or washing the carpet. Dry cleaning is carried out using a special powder.

  1. Distribute the chemical composition over the carpet and leave overnight.
  2. In the morning, vacuum up the powder.

Wet cleaning involves cleaning with foam, aerosol or a washing vacuum cleaner.

  1. Apply foam to the coating (you can use the aerosol immediately, and dilute the shampoo with water).
  2. Wait for the foam to dry.
  3. Vacuum.

It is possible to wash carpet from dirt only in cases where the pile and base are made of synthetic materials. After washing, the coating must be removed to dry.

  1. Dilute the powder with warm water according to the instructions.
  2. Wet the carpet well with the mixture and clean it with a brush.
  3. Squeeze dirty water with a spatula into a separate place and remove with rags.
  4. Remove the covering from the floor and hang it to dry.

Getting rid of stains: how to wipe off paint, brilliant green and other stubborn dirt

Fresh stains are much easier to remove than stubborn ones. Rub them in, moving from the edge to the center so as not to smudge. In addition to stain removers industrial production, housewives use folk remedies: soda, vinegar, ammonia, citric acid or alcohol. They are safe for health, and are sometimes more effective than store-bought ones.

  1. To remove stains from chocolate, juice or tea, mix vinegar and alcohol in a 1:3 ratio, apply and brush.
  2. Remove stains from blood and eggs with soapy water and soda, then rinse with vinegar and wipe with a damp cloth.
  3. Contaminants of chemical origin (varnish, paint, ink) can be removed with a solvent containing alcohol.
  4. Stamp ink stains are removed with gasoline.
  5. Traces of fruit are removed citric acid(1/3 tsp per 1 glass of water).
  6. If green paint is spilled on the carpet, moisten the stain with hydrogen peroxide. When it dries, there will be no trace of dirt left.
  7. Freeze sticky chewing gum with a piece of ice: place it on the sticky lump and hold until the gum becomes brittle. Remove residues by hand or with a vacuum cleaner.
  8. Fresh chocolate stains can be easily removed with sauerkraut.

Please note: by removing fresh stains of organic origin (from wine, juice, coffee, cocoa, berries and fruits) with a soap solution, you further fix them on the pile.

There is a universal solution for removing stains from carpet or carpet. To prepare it you will need:

  • water - 1 l;
  • soda - 1 tbsp. l;
  • washing powder - 1 tbsp. l;
  • vinegar - 4 tbsp. l.

Make a solution and gently wipe off the dirt. You will notice the result immediately.

How to remove dirt and stains from a light-colored coating - video

There are stains that can only be removed in one way - replacing the carpet. Antifreeze stains are one of these. Neither folk remedies nor industrially produced drugs help here.

Carpeting is a little more troublesome to maintain than other types of flooring. But with regular vacuuming and timely removal of stains, the coating will retain its beautiful appearance for a long time.

A number of folk recipes will help remove odors from carpet. You don't need to run to the stores in search of active substances to remove extraneous odors. However, you should remember that only professional carpet cleaning in Moscow can keep your carpet in perfect order.

Finding out the reasons before removing odor from carpet

A number of carpet coverings are produced on the basis natural materials. Other coatings use synthetic substances. Synthetics are used not only in the manufacture of pile, but also in the base of carpet. The unpleasant smell of new carpet is a completely natural phenomenon. Traditionally, it is the synthetic components that smell unpleasant. But after 5-9 days the heavy “aroma” disappears.

Questions about a foul-smelling carpet product should only arise if the product was installed a long time ago. To effectively eliminate such a smell, you need to find out the exact reason causing the heavy “fragrance”. It is necessary to fight not with the smell itself, but with the cause of its occurrence.

  • Frequently moistening the carpet causes an intolerable “aroma” of mold and dampness. This phenomenon occurs in poorly ventilated areas with high humidity. Also, the smell of dampness comes from cat urine, spilled coffee, juice.
  • In homes where pets live, a persistent ammonia “aroma” is established. Therefore, it is important to promptly remove traces of feces from dogs and cats. However, such a “fragrance” can also be caused by children’s urine.
  • The smell of tobacco emanates from carpets installed in areas where there is a lot of smoking. However, such premises are very rarely cleaned.

In rooms where carpeting is rarely maintained, a sour milk smell may appear.

How to clean carpet from smell

It is much easier to remove odor from carpet once you determine the cause of its occurrence. Here are a number of recipes.

  • Use regular table salt. Scatter this substance over the surface of the carpet. Wait a little and remove the salt with a broom, and then vacuum. If the aroma does not go away, repeat the procedure.
  • Scatter a mixture of crushed laundry soap and starch over the surface of the carpet. Distribute the mixture evenly. Wait about 40 minutes and then remove it with a broom.
  • Take baking soda and evenly sprinkle the surface of the carpet with this substance. Brush the carpet, sweep away any remaining baking soda with a broom, and vacuum.

Many other home remedies can also remove bad odors. The housewife doesn’t even have to go shopping to find a suitable product. There are separate recipes that tell you how to eliminate the smell of urine on carpet.

How to remove urine smell from carpet

A persistent ammonia smell from carpeting indicates the presence of urine stains on its surface. These formations belong to the cohort of difficult to remove. However, there are a number of ways to get rid of the smell of urine on carpet.

  • Make a homogeneous thick mass of water and soda. Apply the created mixture to the damaged area of the carpet. After 15 minutes, remove the remnants of this solution, and blot the wet area with a dry paper towel.
  • Use vinegar, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. You will also need some detergent. Apply a little vinegar to the affected area. Wait until the carpet surface absorbs the substance, then vacuum the area. Treat the damaged area with a weak solution of vinegar in water (1:3). When the treated area is dry, sprinkle soda on it and fill it with a solution of hydrogen peroxide, washing in water. For 100 ml of peroxide you will need 100 ml of water and half a teaspoon of detergent. Apply foam of this solution to the smelly area and wait for the reaction to appear after a couple of hours.

The second method differs in duration, but the recipe is considered effective. To prevent the appearance of bad odors from the carpet, remove the causes of heavy odors in a timely manner.

After purchase, carpeting can smell quite strongly. The question arises: how to remove the smell of new carpet? In order to protect products from damage, carpet manufacturers treat them with special chemical compounds. Also, adhesives and materials are used for production, which after laying the carpet can cause a specific odor. This is especially true for cheap carpeting. An unpleasant chemical odor may appear immediately after the carpet is laid and heated to room temperature.

The smell that lasts the longest comes from artificial bristles. If possible, try to buy carpet whose fibers consist of cotton, wool, etc. These materials will release the odor much faster than synthetic ones.

Use glue-free carpet installation methods if possible. This way you will avoid the appearance of excess odor.

How to get rid of the smell of new carpet

To get rid of this “aroma”, you can use several methods:

  1. You can remove the smell of new carpet by airing it. Create a good draft in the room - open windows, doors, vents. The passing fresh air will carry away the unpleasant odor.
  2. You can use two fans - arrange them in such a way that one brings fresh air into the room, and the other expels it.
  3. Regular baking soda can absorb a variety of odors. Sprinkle it onto the surface of the new carpet in an even layer and leave for several hours, or better yet, overnight. After this, vacuum the surface. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated.
  4. Another good odor absorber is white vinegar. It will help remove the smell from new carpet if the surface of the covering is treated with a mixture consisting of 1 part vinegar and 2 parts warm water. This mixture is poured into the steam cleaner. Further actions are in accordance with the instructions for the device.
  5. Another helper for removing excess odors is onion. Cut a few onions in half and place a few at a time in bowls of water. Place the bowls at several points in the room, preferably throughout the night.
  6. This method is similar to the previous one, but instead of onions we use an apple. This fruit will not only help remove the smell of new carpet, but will also make the air much fresher.
  7. Manganese solution. Before using this product, test it on a small unnecessary area carpet Keep in mind that too strong a solution may stain the fibers.

We hope that our tips will help you get rid of the smell of new carpeting. How to remove other unpleasant odors that are absorbed into the carpet over time, read other articles in the “Care” section.

Thanks to its fleecy structure, which, as a result, absorbs all liquids spilled on it, the carpet after a while begins to emit certain odors. Based on the type of amber, it is quite possible to determine its cause and take the necessary measures to eliminate it:

  • moldy damp shade, with a specific moldy smell. The carpet could get wet and not dry quickly enough, the humidity in the room is high and excess moisture is simply absorbed into the covering; after washing, drying was not carried out fully. In a word, conditions have appeared for the development of such an unpleasant fungal infection - mold. What should I do? Carefully inspect the coating and find areas of mold damage, which (necessarily from the inside out!) must be cleaned and treated with mold removal agents. After drying, treat thoroughly with a quartz lamp or a product such as an ozonator (ozone in a special container). But, if mold has covered a significant part of the coating, then there are only two options - throw it away or (if you really care about it), then take it to a professional dry cleaner;
  • “pleasant” such ammonia notes appear for a reason - either the cats and dogs living with you have marked their territory, or infants have tried their best and produced a small puddle. This type of odor is incredibly difficult to get rid of; all that remains is removal. For this required places pour peroxide and blot with a rag (dry). If this does not help, then add soda and dishwashing detergent (liquid and with a sharp, pleasant aroma) to the peroxide.

You don’t have to bother, but go to a pet store and buy special products for such cases;

  • There is a strong smell of chemicals either on a product that was just brought from the store (this is how they are protected from damage), or washing products with a persistent odor were used. It happens that you spilled something chemical, then forgot about it, but the smell never went away. To eliminate it, make a weak (pink) manganese solution. The surface is treated with this (and also with a solution of vinegar and ammonia), but with caution - check in an inconspicuous area so as not to discolor.

There is also this option - rub in soda slurry (water and soda, liquid consistency), and then, when it dries, everything can be easily removed with a vacuum cleaner. A new carpet should be allowed to air out for a maximum of a few days; if the smell is still persistent, then such a product should not be purchased and it may need to be returned to the store;

  • residual smell of tobacco. It’s very unpleasant, especially for non-smokers, but for it to appear you don’t need to smoke in the room all the time - you just relaxed and allowed the guests to smoke once at the party, and the carpet “remembered” everything and “took revenge”, especially if the cleaning was not done on time . Now you need to thoroughly vacuum it, then wash it thoroughly with regular washing powder and dry it with a fan heater.

In general, carpet maintenance should be regular; if it gets wet, dry it immediately, use a vacuum cleaner (not a washing one!) to remove dust, and use special household cleaning products for such cases.
