You Yourself, help me as I am weak, nourish me as I am strange, guide me as I am lost, heal and save me as I am hopeless.

The history of the creation of the miraculous image

Story

Research data suggests that the iconography of the image developed in the 16th century under the influence of Western engravings and icons with complex symbolism. However, most of the surviving “Adding Mind” icons date back to the 18th-19th centuries. On them, the Blessed Virgin and the Infant God are depicted with royal crowns on their heads, while Christ blesses with his right hand, and in His left hand is an orb, a symbol of royal power. The Mother of God and Child is depicted on a dark olive background in the rays of Divine light. The peculiarity of the icon is its unique robes. The Mother of God is dressed together with the Infant God in a long bell-shaped cloak - dalmatic. It is red in color, richly embroidered with gold crosses and decorated with precious stones. In the upper corners of the icon there are lamps with flames. The Most Pure Virgin is depicted against the background of the starry sky, opening under the arch of the portal. An ancient legend has been preserved, explaining the origin of the name of the icon: “Soon after Patriarch Nikon, a pious man lived in Moscow. He read a lot of church books from Joseph’s time, and then began to read books corrected by Patriarch Nikon. Having read those and other books, he began to think and reflect a lot: whether he would be right before God and what books he needed to follow in order to be saved; He thought for a long time, but could not solve the problem and went crazy. At the beginning of the 20th century, Russian researcher Andrei Aleksandrovich Titov established that the prototype of the icon of the Mother of God “Addition of Mind” was the statue of the Mother of God from the city of Loreto in Italy (the exact indication of the prototype was given to him by academician Nikodim Pavlovich Kondakov): “The image of this icon appeared in Rus', obviously , from the 16th century. Ask for Divine grace from Your Son and God, O All-Good One, give us a helping hand, so that we may not perish without repentance; Warm us with Your love, cleanse our minds from sinful thoughts, enlighten our heart's eyes to the vision of salvation and make us worthy in this life and in the Kingdom of Heaven to sing to our Creator and Creator: Alleluia.

Singing the miracles revealed from Your icon, Lady, we praise, glorify and magnify You, truly the most honest Cherub and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim. Look down from Heaven, Mother of God, on those standing before Thy holy icon and send down Thy grace to us, deliver from all troubles and temptations of the enemy all who sing of Thee as our Intercessor and Guardian:

Rejoice, you who save the whole world through Your prayers; Rejoice, consolation for this sorrowful age.

Rejoice, Mother of Light, enlightening everyone with the light of Your purity; Rejoice, you who reveal the will of the Lord's secrets to us.

Rejoice, you who have chosen the Russian country as your property; Rejoice, having blessed the Russian land with the appearance of Your miraculous icons.

Rejoice, you who raise us from Your image to the Light of Truth; Rejoice, thou who invisibly overshadows us with grace in Thy image.

Rejoice, you pouring out gracious joy into God-loving hearts; Rejoice, thou who openest the doors of God's mercy through Thy intercession.

Rejoice, thou who helpest us to acquire the gifts of the Holy Spirit; Rejoice, one Pure and Blessed One among women.

Rejoice, All-Merciful Lady, who bestows wisdom and understanding on Thy faithful people.

Prayer

Most Pure Mother of God, the House in which the Wisdom of God was created, the Giver of spiritual gifts, raising our minds from the world to the worldly and leading everyone to the knowledge of reason! Receive prayerful singing from us, Thy unworthy servants, who bow with faith and tenderness before Thy most pure image. Pray to Thy Son and our God to grant wisdom and strength to our rulers, to judges truth and impartiality, to shepherds spiritual wisdom, zeal and vigilance for souls, to mentors humility, to children obedience, to all of us the spirit of reason and piety, the spirit of humility and meekness, the spirit purity and truth. And now, our All-Singing Mother, give us an increase in intelligence, pacify, unite those who exist in enmity and division and lay down for them an insoluble bond of love, convert all those who have gone astray from foolishness to the light of the truth of Christ, instruct the fear of God, abstinence and hard work, the word of wisdom and soul-helping knowledge Grant to those who ask, overshadow us with eternal joy, the most honorable of the Cherubim and the most glorious of the Seraphim. We, seeing the wondrous deeds and manifold wisdom of God in the world and our life, will remove ourselves from earthly vanities and unnecessary worldly cares, and will raise our mind and heart to Heaven, as if by Your intercession and help glory, praise, thanksgiving and worship for all in the Trinity We send our praises to the glorious God and Creator of all, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
