Vasileostrovskaya station was opened without a visor. Vasileostrovskaya station opened after major renovation Vasileostrovskaya station opened after renovation

Metro station "Vasileostrovskaya" is open today after a major overhaul. Its opening is timed to the City Day. The updated station was inspected by the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Igor Albin.

He noted qualitatively completed work at the station itself, as well as landscaping work. According to the vice-governor, Vasileostrovskaya is considered one of the key ones on the island, so its renovation, completed ahead of schedule, very important for St. Petersburg residents. It should be noted that at peak loads the station transports up to 80 thousand people.

As Vladimir Garyugin, head of the St. Petersburg Metro State Unitary Enterprise, explained, the main innovation of the renovated Vasileostrovskaya is the absence of a canopy over the entrance to the station. During the renovation they decided to dismantle it because the visor was in disrepair and was supported by supports.

Let us remind you that Vasileostrovskaya was closed for major repairs 11 months ago. The old drainage umbrellas were completely replaced, the waterproofing of the inclined passage of the station was restored, and the leaks were completely eliminated.

Work was carried out on architectural lighting of the inclined passage. Now the metro station lobby is lined with new finishing material, the windows, stained glass windows and entrance doors have been replaced.

In addition, new cash register premises were built, and an integrated security system was installed and equipped. There will be no restrictive barriers at the time of launch. There are only ramps for people with limited mobility. Previously, only mobile ramps were installed here, which were transported from station to station.

As Andrey Anisimov, chief engineer of the investment programs service of the State Unitary Enterprise Petersburg Metro, said earlier, a total of 350 million rubles were spent on repairing the station. “The cladding was replaced to make the lobby lighter and more spacious. Process equipment was replaced to minimize the load on the station,” Anisimov said.

Let us remind you that the Vasileostrovskaya station was opened in November 1967. This is a closed and deep station. Its ground entrance hall was designed by architects A. S. Getskin, V. P. Shuvalova and engineer V. I. Akatov.

The lobby building is elevated 10 steps above the ground. This was done to protect the station from flooding, as this part of the city is prone to flooding. The design names of the station were "Middle Prospect" and "Eighth Line".

The underground lobby was built according to the design of architects A. Ya. Macheret, A. I. Pribulsky, L. S. Chupina. The central hall of the station was shortened, as part of the platform was given over to office space. In this regard, the first and last doors are closed and locked.

Initially, it was assumed that “Vasileostrovskaya would be opened for passengers on June 7. Then the plans were adjusted: the station was going to open before June 1. But in the end, it was decided to open it on May 27 - on City Day.

I can’t even believe that 50 years ago such strict minimalism was in fashion. Nowadays they don’t make stations without candelabra.

Nothing has changed on the platform (in an architectural sense). But everything was washed very well, everything shines and sparkles.

Carpet in front of the doors. For some reason, in the USSR they often decorated floors with broken tiles. Do you remember there were still broken marbles in stores?

Info and postcard

Arch - a portal to the escalator chamber (or what is the correct name for this hall?)

The lining of the walls in the cell was changed. Previously there was white yellowed marble.

The reason for the closure for repairs is a problem with the inclined track. A special feature of the St. Petersburg metro is that the escalator passes through a swamp (sandy slurry). This is exactly where the metro is weak; water always leaks.
It was completely renovated - they made new waterproofing, changed the drainage umbrellas (we can just see them), moved the lamps from the balustrade to the vault.

Entrance lobby. It’s quite tiny, but nevertheless they shoved a checkpoint here, oh my God.

The cash register window was placed on the façade

Labyrinth for the disabled

On May 27, 2016 at 9 a.m. the grand opening of the Vasileostrovskaya metro station in St. Petersburg took place. After a major overhaul that lasted about a year, the station changed its appearance.

The facing tiles on the facade of the pavilion and in the lobby were replaced with beige (previously the covering was dirty gray), and the lobby was expanded. The iron supports that supported the building's canopy were dismantled, and the restrictive barriers at the entrance were also removed. The structure of the canopy itself was significantly strengthened during the overhaul process.

During the overhaul, specialists completely replaced the inclined structure of the station, installing modern ones made of composite materials instead of outdated asbestos-cement drainage umbrellas. Leaks that formed during operation have been eliminated, and the waterproofing of the inclined passage has been restored.

New turnstiles were installed in the station's ground vestibule, a modern ticket hall was built, a KSOB booth was installed, new windows and curtain lighting were installed.

The station has also become more convenient for passengers with disabilities. There are now special tactile tiles on the floor, which serve to provide more confident orientation for visually impaired citizens. There are ramps installed at the entrance and exit from the lobby. For the first time in Russia, expanded doors for wheelchair users are equipped with an automatic mechanism. This technology was developed in St. Petersburg and in the future, automatic doors will appear at all St. Petersburg subway stations.

“Vasileostrovskaya is open for passengers!” - they announce in a solemn voice at all stations of the St. Petersburg subway. On City Day, at approximately 09:20, it happened: the station, without which the whole island (about 200 thousand population) suffered, was opened after 11 months of major repairs costing 350 million rubles - with music and balloons.

Passengers' first impressions: joy and bewilderment. The station is shiny, but otherwise looks the same as it did a year ago. The only thing that immediately attracts attention is the new design of the ramp at the entrance and the absence of limiting barriers.
As the Metro press service explained to The Village, passenger flow will be monitored for a month: if it turns out that it is the same (80 thousand daily - 20 thousand passengers more than normal), the separators will be returned.
But subway specialists hope that the flow will decrease thanks to. Hopes are also pinned on the second exit from Vasileostrovskaya itself: at the opening, officials spoke evasively about “long-term plans” - previously it was said that an engineering design of the station would be presented in 2018.

Without Vasileostrovskaya, life in the public space of lines 6–7 - one of the few pedestrian streets in St. Petersburg - has calmed down slightly.
Back in November 2014, the Any Pasta chain restaurant was preventively opened; not so long ago, the local “” also disappeared - only the window dressing reminds of it. However, there are no other voids in the colorful fabric of the pedestrian zone: other chain stores - “Ukrop”, Marketplace, “Spices & Joys”, Coffeeshop Company, brasserie Kriek and others - are in place.

What exactly
made on "Vasileostrovskaya":

The waterproofing of the inclined course was restored, the leaks were completely eliminated.

Three escalators were overhauled.

Of the five entrance doors, four were left: two were combined into one - a ramp was organized for the passage of people with limited mobility.

The roof was reinforced, the visors and metal supports were removed.

They made a new lining of the lobby, replaced windows, stained-glass windows and entrance doors.

We built new cash register premises, installed and equipped the integrated security system (ICSS) premises.

The first passengers - about their impressions

Anatoly:“Everything is the same as it was. There are very few changes. It seems that only new pictures have been made. The floor, the walls - everything is the same. True, I haven’t been to the top yet.”

Olga:“The colors of the station have changed. This is unusual: the curbs at the station were burgundy, and have become metallic. And so - the feeling is pleasant: everything should be updated, I think.

For the last year I have been living on Vasilyevsky Island. I work on the Black River, I got there by ground transport, which was unusual and stressful for me: due to traffic jams, I couldn’t accurately calculate the time. I really love the metro: it’s like a time machine - you go in and know exactly when you’ll be where you need to be.”

Natalya Borisovna:“I remember the opening of the Vasileostrovskaya station in 1967. I was studying at the Mining Institute then, and, of course, it was a big event. I came today specifically so that, while I am alive, I can be present at such a significant event, because you see what a delight the station has been turned into? We had been waiting for this for so long, we had been suffering for so long: especially during rush hours, getting from Bolshoy Prospekt to the center was a real challenge. And now - please: and life around the station will boil.

I like that it's warm here. I remember that in 1967 it was cold at the station for some reason - perhaps so as not to be stuffy. And if you fit in a light blouse, the chances of catching a cold were great. And now I specifically noticed: it’s very comfortable.

Previously, the station was disgusting in appearance - just like “Ploshchad Mira” (the current “Sennaya”). It was a quadrangular cube. This is horror: a canopy fell on Mira, killing seven people (a five-meter concrete canopy of the station pavilion with an area of about 50 square meters collapsed on June 10, 1999. - Ed.). After that, our “Vasileostrovskaya” was strengthened with ugly metal supports. This is how it stood - until now the supports were removed.

True, we asked Deputy Kovalev (Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Alexey Kovalev. - Ed.): Is it possible to make a pavilion corresponding to the houses of the early twentieth century? Of course, he said there was no money. Nevertheless, this terrible cobalt has disappeared, just like these sad supports - it’s quite pleasant to look at the station. Our joy is immense - even among ordinary non-working pensioners, and what can we say about those who work?

The whole year without Vasileostrovskaya it was bad: if you need to go at rush hour, for example, to a theater or a concert, you go to Bolshoy Prospekt. We, hardened by decades of previous life, took a trolleybus or bus by storm. There wasn't enough space, people were waiting for the next bus... In general, it was terrible. So hurray, long live our station and may it serve us for many years.”

Station "Vasileostrovskaya" is one of the oldest stations of the Leningrad-Petersburg metro. The station was opened on November 3, 1967 as part of the first section of the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya line (M3). The station was built during the period of Khrushchev’s total austerity, which makes itself felt well at the present time and creates a number of problems. Firstly, the poor quality of construction work, coupled with difficult engineering and geological conditions, led to the need to repair and restore the waterproofing of the inclined track, just as was done at the stations "Alexandra Nevsky Square-1", "Pushkinskaya", "Gostiny Dvor" " and others. Secondly, a cramped ground lobby with worn-out structures, which has long been unable to cope with the colossal passenger flow at the station (at rush hour, the queue to enter starts 20 meters before the external staircase to the lobby). All this led to the need to organize a major overhaul of the inclined passage and the vestibule, which was discussed a few years ago. Then, closing the station was not possible, because it would lead to a transport collapse since Vasileostrovskaya is very overloaded. It was decided to close the station for major repairs immediately after the opening of the second exit from the Sportivnaya station to Vasilyevsky Island. The latter was opened on May 27, 2015, and Vasileostrovskaya closed for major renovations on July 11.

Initially, it was planned to rebuild and expand the ground lobby by integrating it into a new building of a shopping or business center. But at the beginning of 2015, Vice Governor Igor Albin decided to abandon such construction. Thus, the ground lobby will not be expanded, and the problem of crowding and queues at the entrance during peak hours will not be solved. In addition, by building a shopping center on the corner of Sredny Avenue and the 6-7 line, it would be possible to achieve a geometric completion of the streets, since against the backdrop of pre-revolutionary multi-story urban development, the one-story Khrushchev vestibule, for which the same multi-story building was once demolished, looks out of place. The shopping center, in turn, was planned to be built in the Stalinist Empire style, which would fit more or less well into the surrounding buildings.

The overhaul of the lobby (which will retain its original appearance and area) and the inclined passage is expected to take 11 months. The work is carried out by SMU-11 of OJSC Metrostroy. The exact opening date has not yet been announced.

1. The room under the station ticket hall. Hermetic door.

2. Upper machine room.

3. Upper machine room. There are escalator ribbons on top.

4. Spare escalator steps. Traditionally, the escalators themselves will not be changed; they will limit themselves to major repairs of the belts.

5. Inclined stroke. Top down view. Technological passage along the tray between the belts. At the top is an escalator balustrade.

6. We go down the inclined tray.

7. Room in the lower tension.

8. Machine room of escalators in the lower tension.

9. Let's go up from the lower tension to the escalators. While the workers are engaged in waterproofing, the metro workers responsible for the escalators are engaged in their repair, running-in and adjustment. The station's passenger platform is fenced off with a temporary metal mesh. Her appearance will not change.

10. Inclined movement with dismantled umbrellas. Lining made of cast iron tubes.

11. Scaffolding from which workers carry out waterproofing repairs. At this stage, the tubing bolts are being replaced.

12. Inclined stroke. View up. The bolts in this area have not yet been replaced. After replacing the bolts, cement mortar will be injected behind the lining.

13. Inclined stroke and its head. Above are the vestibule structures.

14. Cash register hall in the lobby. Here we will limit ourselves to cosmetic repairs only.

15. Lobby outside. A concrete canopy similar to the one that fell in 1999 from the lobby of the Senaaya Ploshchad station is being dismantled. Then, as a result of the tragedy, several people died. After those events, metal supports were installed on all Khrushchev-era lobbies with similar canopies, including the one at Vasileostrovskaya. During the major renovation of the lobby, the ill-fated canopies will be completely dismantled.

16. Unrealized project of a shopping center with the integration and expansion of a metro lobby.

17. The photograph shows how the new building would harmoniously complement the geometry of the surrounding buildings, resulting in a vacant lot on the corner of Sredny Avenue and 6-7 lines of V.O. with a one-story “box” of the lobby would be eliminated.

18. Existing reconstruction project. The lobby will practically not change its appearance and will not be expanded.

19. Only a ramp will be added to lift people with wheelchairs and people with disabilities.
