Rosa Khutor evening skiing trails. Tracks. Trails and lifts

This is one of the most popular questions from resort guests, so we decided to write an honest and understandable article to help you prepare for your trip.

So let's get ready! You have decided to come to Krasnaya Polyana and choose where you will ride. There are 3 ski resorts in Krasnaya Polyana: Rosa Khutor, Krasnaya Polyana (former Gorki Gorod) and Gazprom (Laura + Alpika). The former Alpika-Service opened in 2017 and is now part of the GTZ Gazprom, not being an independent resort. Therefore, there are legally three resorts in Krasnaya Polyana, but in fact it still looks more like four. Now let's figure out what's what.

And yes, we write "resorts of Krasnaya Polyana" for simplicity, although geographically none of the resorts in the village of Krasnaya Polyana is located - they are all a few kilometers from it. In this case, Krasnaya Polyana refers to the entire ski area with all four resorts. And the Krasnaya Polyana resort is also the new name of Gorka Gorod after rebranding. Merciless naming confused everything even more, but what to do.

Comparison of Krasnaya Polyana resorts

We at RiderHelp write, as usual, subjectively, based on our ideas about the region and riding preferences. The resorts themselves may not agree with this, but at least we visit all three resorts more often than their employees on the slopes of competitors, so, probably, everything is fair =)

So, briefly about the resorts of the KP ...

Rosa Khutor

Rosa, in our opinion, is the best resort in terms of the totality of indicators and the number of services. You can book hotels and ski passes at a discount long before your trip, purchase all this via the Internet and be sure of the cost of your vacation in advance. Here is the largest number of rentals, ski schools, various services, etc. Rose is well suited for families with children who can be taken to children's schools; beginners who do not really understand what they need in terms of riding; as well as large companies, where everyone needs different tracks. And also the party youth who rides in the park. Yes, for almost the entire season there is a park with springboards and a jib on Rosa, or even more than one!

Rosa can be conditionally divided into three ski areas: the Main Circus (a bowl in the mountains) Rosa Khutor, Ober Khutor Circus, where two new gondolas Dryad and Tundra lead from Rosa Stadium, as well as the new Southern Sector, which is usually open in good weather.

The southern sector is a new ski area that opened in 2017. It boasts a 7 km long Yavor track and a unique terrain that is not found on the northern slopes. In fact, it can even pass for a separate resort with 17 km of slopes.

However, there are also disadvantages. Roza is the most expensive and at the same time the most populous resort, because it is the most popular (Respect to the resort's marketers!) Another important point is that the Olympic Village zone on Rosa Plateau is actively developing on Rosa Khutor. The resort is located on 2 levels, where there are hotels of all price categories from 5 * to hostels. There are more and more places to live on the mountain, which is good for those who live there, but at the same time creates skiing competition for those who live below or come to the resort from the village or from the coast. In addition, Rosa Khutor starts work at 7.30 am (Wolf Rock) and in order to have time to roll out untouched corduroy, you need to wake up very early.

Rosa Khutor claims that the resort has 102 km of slopes. However, trained ratters are about 86 km, according to the resort's website. There are also such sections as Yuryev Khutor and Crazy Khutor, which start from narrow couloirs and turn into wide snowy fields with rolls out through the forest. They are also included in the total mileage, but not everyone is in the teeth and interests.

On Rosa, as elsewhere, not all trails are always open due to weather or avalanche conditions. Perhaps only this season was a pleasant exception due to low temperatures and heavy snowfalls. And this season, riding the Rosa was surprisingly comfortable thanks to

GTZ Gazprom(Laura + Alpika)

GTZ Gazprom since 2017 consists of two ski areas: the well-known Gazprom Laura and the good old Alpika-Service, which opened in 2017, which is now correctly called Gazprom Alpika

Such a merger of resorts has turned the GTZ Gazprom from a resort for beginners and pure-piste skiers into a worthy competitor to its neighbors - after all, it is Alpika that is among the top ten world resorts in terms of elevation difference, and complex red and black slopes are in no way inferior, and somewhere even and surpass the routes Rosa Khutor and Gorki Gorod. Well, yes, now freeride has also appeared at Gazprom. But still, it is rather doubtful that in one day you will ride on two parts of the resort at once. And the question is whether you can (due to the complexity of the Alpine tracks). Therefore, for now, let's distinguish between Laura and Alpika and write about them separately.

Gazprom Laura

Laura is suitable for beginners, lovers of comfortable piste skiing, good corduroy and family holidays. In addition, Gazprom is traditionally considered a praying place for posturing and walking expensive mountain-beach clothes and beautiful companions packed in them. Although it must be admitted that part of the wealthy public from Gazprom is confidently taken by the more expensive Rosa Khutor.

There are 23 kilometers of slopes at Gazprom, the operation of which is highly dependent on the temperature outside, since the highest point of the resort is only 1660 meters, in contrast to 2200 and 2300 meters for the neighboring ones. However, in the event of snowfalls and high avalanche danger, Gazprom is not closed, and the operation of its routes is more stable and understandable. An important note in favor of Gazprom: almost all of our corporate clients with extensive experience in skiing in the Alps say that only Gazprom corresponds to their usual marking and preparation of tracks, which they are used to in Europe. Those. if a person declares that he is the champion of Andorra in red tracks and shopping, then we will first go to Gazprom, and then we will see.

By the way, Gazprom is the only place in Polyana where you can go cross-country skiing along the Olympic slopes of the Laura ski and biathlon complex. Skis can be rented right on the mountain.

Gazprom Alpika

In the 2017-2018 season, Alpika did not open all the slopes, but only their upper part at elevations from 2256 m to 1500 m. At this altitude, only black and red slopes are available so far and there is nothing for beginners to do there (really nothing, if only to take a picture at the top ). The gentler blue and green slopes are below 1500m and are supposed to open next season. As a result, this creates a situation that is unique for Krasnaya Polyana: few people, excellent trails for confident riders and the opportunity to ride them sometimes in splendid isolation. This, of course, is not suitable for the general mass of wheelers, but for the experienced it turned out to be a VIP resort =)

Krasnaya Polyana (formerGorki City)

Krasnaya Polyana is the new name of Gorki Gorod (since 2019). The resort is best suited for two main categories of skiers: very beginners and confident riders. In Gorki there are not so many slopes of medium difficulty for the majority of skiers, so many tourists complain about too steep and narrow slopes, although you have to complain about your level of skiing. Confident skiers, on the contrary, are happy about this, because there are not so many people on the red and black slopes. Even at 12 noon, you can find patches of untouched velveteen, which is an unaffordable luxury in neighboring resorts. Well, yes, this is the favorite resort of local freeriders. Gorki Gorod is the most unobvious and dangerous resort in terms of off-piste skiing. Therefore, fresh snow is rolled here much longer than in the circuses of Rosa, but beginners should start skiing only with guides. However, over the past few years, the resort has seriously spoiled its reputation by blocking ski passes for off-piste trips, and this is with the Freeride sign on the facade of the resort. In the 2019-2020 season, Krasnaya Polyana (Gorki Gorod) promises to improve and introduce adequate rules for off-piste skiing.

At the same time, green and blue slopes are very comfortable for training in Gorki, and several ski schools, including children's ones, offer different training options. In total, 27 km of tracks are declared in Gorki, which, however, may not always be fully open due to weather conditions. In general, the resort is not for everyone, but with the proper level of skiing and understanding of your needs, you can ride perfectly. By the way, most of the winter we ourselves ride off-piste in Gorki Gorod.

In general, if you clearly understand what is important for you in a vacation at a ski resort, then you should think about a competent approach to skiing in our region and choosing one of the four ski areas, and test all three resorts in the right way and then choose the most suitable one. .

Resort selection by time of year. Should I buy weekly ski passes?

Let's look at all three resorts in more detail and a few typical situations, taking into account seasonality and weather. We have already published a wildly useful review on the topic When to go, since it is directly related to the quality of skating.

In short, you need to understand a few important things about Krasnaya Polyana. Namely: we have a very warm resort; we may have a lot of precipitation at once (or maybe not). And the climate in the region is unstable and the seasons can be very different from each other.

It also depends a lot on the time of year and the current weather. If the winter is cold, then snow cannons work, the snow line drops below 800 meters above sea level and all tracks in all resorts work fully. If the winter is also snowy, then nature helps the snowmaking systems and in general everything is fine. But this is an ideal option, which does not always happen. Often at the beginning of the season and until the end of January there is still not enough snow and the lower slopes do not work. And the terrain we have is such that these very lower slopes are just right for beginners. And on New Year's Eve, most fans of just such tracks come. As a result, many choose routes that are not based on skill level, so here is another useful material for you if suddenly you got injured in the CP =)

Scheme of potentially closed ski areas

We have drawn a map of ski areas that could potentially be closed in case of bad weather. For Rosa, Alpika and Gorka Gorod this means high avalanche danger or strong winds, and for Laura very warm weather that threatens the lower part of the slopes.

Alpika is marked in gray, because it is not yet stable - after all, the first season is open and not everything is ready yet.

Red sections are the most frequently closed ski areas in case of avalanche danger, strong winds or poor visibility. Yellow marks those areas that are also closed, but not so often. And green - those that work almost always, with the exception of the beginning and end of the season, when there is still or already little snow. This season is just such a situation - there was not enough snow and the lower lines of the resorts did not open for a long time.

A fairly common situation is when it snows and there is a high avalanche danger in the mountains. Krasnaya Polyana is famous for its heavy snowfalls, when it can fall up to a meter per night. Of course, this is a joy for freeriders, but in such a situation, the tops are often closed. For example, for Rosa Khutor this means that the South Slope is almost always closed, and quite often Rosa Peak and Ober Khutor.

In Gorki Gorod, in case of bad weather, the routes of the Eastern Sector and sometimes Circus-2 are often blocked, which together makes up almost half of the resort. Sometimes the third queue closes, and then it’s generally sad.

On the Alpika this season there are only 8 km of slopes at altitudes from 2256 to 1500 meters. If there is a high avalanche danger or a strong wind, then they can either close everything altogether, or leave one line of the cable car from 1900 to 1500.

Often there are situations that everything is fine in Gorki and the tops are open, but not on Rosa. Or vice versa: the Peak is open on Rosa, and access to the top is prohibited in Gorki due to strong wind. It is in such cases that there is a lack of a single ski pass. And so we advise many wheelers to live down in the valley, do not buy ski passes in advance, and every morning to see what exactly is open in the morning and only then make a decision where to go.

However, there are difficulties here too: Rosa Khutor starts work noticeably earlier (an hour) than Gazprom and Gorki, so you have to decide whether to go to Rosa early in the morning or wait for other resorts to open .. If you ride with guides or take yourself an escort, then everything is simpler and the guide will make a decision for you, based on an understanding of the resort and his experience.

Well, at Gazprom at this time, people usually complain that visibility is poor and corduroy does not crunch. But in fact, the tracks are not blocked, as on Rosa and in Gorki. There are other problems: Gazprom is located below the rest of the resorts, and in case of very warm weather, the tracks can be closed to save snow on the lower sections.

Tip: a few days before the trip, start studying the current situation at the resort, the level of the snow line, the thickness of the snow cover and monitor which tracks are working. It is most reasonable to write to someone you know who is currently at the resort and find out how things are going.

Evening skiing

Night skiing is a suddenly important service that allows you to add an extra day of skiing to your trip if you arrive in Sochi during the day. It is formally available at all resorts and starts working at about 18:00, when the daytime skiing is over and the snow groomers have walked along the tracks again. Often evening skiing is even better than daytime skiing due to the evening cold snap and fewer people. However, many resort guests begin to contemptuously flick about too simple tracks, not realizing that evening skiing is not speed records, but a separate type of recreation that must be taken accordingly. On the map, we have schematically marked the evening skiing areas on Rosa, Alpika, Gorki and (below) on Laura.

The most comfortable area for evening skiing at the moment at Gazprom Laura. Frankly, this is our favorite place to quietly ride in the evening and drink mulled wine in a pleasant mountain-beach atmosphere. The advantage of Gazprom is that even in the evening there are running tracks from training green to red. True, the red F7 and F8 are not always open, but if they are open, then there are usually few people there and therefore it is very comfortable. And sometimes near the tracks it even happens like this, if you get it right =)

In Gorki Gorod, one track of the second stage was illuminated, and another training track was lit along the K8 chair. This is quite enough to fully ride, but the narrow and winding track of the deuce is not suitable for all riders. And given that in the evenings people often swell up, such skating is not very safe. Therefore, we advise you not to drive in the evening, but to calmly enjoy the winter lights of the resort, unhurriedly roll out and have fun.

Evening skiing on Rosa Khutor. This season on Rosa, not everything has become more fun with the opening of the illuminated slopes of Rosa Star, Rosa Blade and the Extreme cable car. And already last season, the resort pleased with a mini-park with small jumps and jib figures located right in front of the Riders Lodge hotel. The site is lit, and it is comfortable to hang out and ride there even without a lift. In addition, one-time spots for contests were regularly built in this mini-park and you get awesome parties with the best riders in the country. Well, for sure, in the near future, Rosa Khutor will increase the length of illuminated trails.

In general, if we compare, then on Laura the evening skiing is the most calm, relaxed and romantic, in Gorki Gorod it is more party and loud in terms of music and audience, and on Rose it is something in between.

If you are riding for the first time, but you ride confidently

We recommend not to be attached to any of the resorts, but to spend the first three days of skiing exploring all the resorts. If funds allow, then it makes sense to take an escort for the so-called ski safari in Krasnaya Polyana in order to get a complete picture of the resorts. It will cost from 5 to 10 thousand rubles. in a day. If you ride freeride, then it is logical to use the services of guides.

However, you can also explore the slopes on your own if you are really good at riding and are not afraid to suddenly leave for a black track. It's even better to have someone from the locals who will be ready to ride with you as friends.

Where to ride if you are a beginner

Of course, if you are just learning, you need an instructor to make this decision for you. If you think differently, then close this and the text and do not listen to advice further.

So, in our opinion, the best place for beginners is Gazprom Laura. So say many private instructors working at all resorts. It is at Gazprom that the smoothest transition from simple to complex routes is possible. At the same time, the tracks are wider and without sharp turns, as is often the case in other resorts. Even if you stopped in the wrong place, it will not be as dangerous as Rosa Khutor or Gorki Gorod. Of course, at every resort there are fenced "paddling pools" for the very, very beginners, but you will get out of there after one or two classes and find yourself in the fascinating world of traffic, where no one has a license, almost everyone learned to drive on their own and at the same time there is no liability for accidents. Therefore, it is better to start with a simpler and less populated Gazprom in general, and then advance to Rosa and Gorki. Of course, comfortable tracks are everywhere and our opinion is subjective, but that's it.

Again, do not forget that there are usually a lot more people at Rosa Khutor than at Gazprom and Gorki Gorod, and this affects safety. For example, I personally designed accident insuranceI after he started learning to ski and spent a few days on the blue slopes of Rosa Khutor. On weekends, I couldn’t ride at all and constantly looked up the slope so that some jet kettle didn’t fly into me. And it helped a couple of times. As a result, I moved with my training to Gazprom, where the tracks are wider and less likely to crash into you.

Fortunately, at all resorts there are completely fenced training trails, and for the smallest children there are generally separate slopes, so you should not worry about kids and very beginner adults.

Yes, another note: we are writing everything here on the basis of previous experience, but no one knows how everything will be in the new season. Therefore, all our advice is only personal assumptions and somewhere something may change.

If you are traveling with family and children

In this case, it is necessary to take into account the wishes and level of skiing of all family members. It is most comfortable to leave small children at a school or a kids club on Rosa Khutor, however, there are similar options in Gorki too. This season the Tyrol school is going to launch an option with a full day kids club. There is only one instructor school at Gazprom, so there is no competition and no different offers for children.

If both spouses ride trails, then any of the resorts will do. But if, for example, the husband loves freeride, then you have to choose between Rosa and Gorki and also a school for children. And if someone from the family wants to jump in the park, then this is most likely Rosa Khutor. Or Gorki Gorod during the New Star snowboard camp.

In general, we advise you to call in advance all instructor schools and find out what they offer specifically for your child, and start from that.

Big company or corporate trip

We quite often organize corporate trips for large groups, so over time we developed the following model: on the day of arrival, we look at the group and, based on the results of communication and the appearance of the riders, we roughly understand what they need and what they can do. In most cases, on the first day, with the whole crowd, accompanied by several instructors, we advance to Gazprom, we roll out there, put quite beginners on skis and look at the level of skiing of experienced ones. In the following days, we can already divide the group and, without fail, accompanied by guides, we leave for Rosa or Gorki. More often still on Rosa Khutor, because there everyone will find suitable tracks for themselves. There we show the guests the tracks and the ski area so that they can navigate on their own in the future. But Gorki Gorod is in third place in our row, since the tracks there are not for everyone and either confident skiers or beginners rejoice from them, whom we carefully protect from entering the red tracks of the Eastern Sector or the third stage. In fact, the main point here is the presence of an experienced guide who will correctly evaluate the group and plan skiing every day, depending on the weather and running tracks, as well as showing the right places for lunch and apres-ski.

If you are traveling in a large group, you should not count on efficiency and that you will be on the lift by the opening. If there are 20 of you and everyone stupefies at least 3 minutes, then for the group this is already an hour. So relax and enjoy =)

If you are planning a similar trip and need help with the organization, you can write to [email protected] site and we will try to help.

If you are going to RIDE the slopes

There are people who come to Krasnaya Polyana to have a complex rest, and there are those who go for a ride. Here we can advise you to get up early and on almost any day you will have 1-2 hours of high-quality wheelchairs, while the broad masses are just waking up and climbing the mountain. For example, the red and black slopes G and F at Gazprom are usually almost empty for the first hour and can be perfectly distributed on fresh velveteen. The second hour there are still few people there, and only by 11 am the influx of people already begins. The same applies to Gorki Gorod, especially the routes of the Eastern sector. Everything is more complicated on Rosa, as the resort opens earlier, there are more people there and the tracks roll out faster. However, there is a life hack there too - while all inexperienced tourists go to the Peak together, you can quickly catch some excellent descents on the Wolf Rock chair. Well, as we already wrote, Alpika for confident riders can be just a discovery.

Track status online

On sites Rosa Khutor and Gazprom in online mode, running tracks are displayed, the status of which is automatically pumped up from the general system of the resort. And if you think that you are about to open the Fairy Tale or the Boar, or even the South Slope, then you can check it from your phone while riding the lift, or look at the information boards. Gorki Gorod also has an interactive route map, but it is manually updated by the resort staff. Usually everything is done promptly, but the human factor is present and it is better to call.

Webcams from all resorts are on the site Sochi.camera. There you can select two icons: with mountains and with a skier, so that you will be shown a list of cameras.

Freeride in Krasnaya Polyana

The famous Krasnopolyansk powder is why we live here and why most of our friends come here. However, despite the worldwide freeride fame of the region, off-piste in the CP is in a semi-legal position. In Gorki Gorod there are areas that are not wasted and are considered a permitted place for freeriding. On Rose, if you look on the map, Crazy Khutor and Yuryev Khutor with a length of about 8 km are referred to the same sections. These are slopes on which velveteen is not rolled, but they are included in the rescue work area and in the total mileage of the slopes. Formally, you can ride on them if they are open. But in reality, this is not always the case. And there are much more places for off-piste skiing at both resorts.

Rosa Khutor is much more obvious in terms of near-road plumping, so herds of headless snow moths rush over them like locusts and all easily accessible places on Rosa roll out in just a couple of hours. In Gorki, there are noticeably fewer such obvious places, so there is enough fresh snow for a couple of days after a snowfall. Alpika seems quite friendly at first glance, but it is officially forbidden to ride off the slopes, and if you suddenly “find” the remains of construction debris or an anchor in the forest at full speed, then it’s your own fault.

By the way, Gazprom also has several serious lines with drops and an unbelievable slope, and sometimes they remain unrolled, when even distant forests are rolled into concrete in other places. We deliberately do not write about specific areas of the resorts, because we don’t want to rent places either, and this is for your own safety. In such cases, you need to ride or with guides, or with locales, or you yourself know everything.

Where is it better to live in order to ride better

If you are going to skate, then, on the one hand, it is convenient to live on Roza Plateau, Gorki 960 or on Psekhako Plateau at Gazprom in order to be the first on the tracks. However, we still recommend living downstairs so that you can change the resort every day according to the weather. Also, if you do not know the resort very well, then it makes sense to take guides or escorts for the first 2-3 days, who will show you interesting places and tell you about the features of each of the resorts. It is very good if you have experienced friends who will do the same, but for free.

What's new?

New slopes and lifts

This winter season, a new (already 28th in a row!) Daphne cable car, located in the Ober Khutor circus, began to operate at the Rosa Khutor resort. It is part of a project to unload the resort in the Rosa Stadium area (now it is not necessary to slide down to the Dryad cable car along narrow tracks past the upper lake if you plan to climb up again later) and will facilitate access to (a unique snowpark made of natural materials, which will open in January).

Significantly increased parking at Rosa Stadium (it is still free). As in the previous season, for those who went up there by car, a one-day ski pass will cost 100 rubles cheaper. Thus, a company of four people can save up to 850 rubles per day (on parking and ski passes).

New tracks of different difficulty levels have appeared on the Southern slope. (red) which originates from the top of the Crocus cable car is now twice as long, and the red slopes of Oread and Adonis have been added to it. Another trail for beginners Yavor 2 appeared there - very beautiful and long (3.8 km). The naiad was red last year - this season it will not be wasted, which means it will join the zones for easy freeride.

The rollout area on the southern slope has been changed and expanded, snow generators have been installed below. But by lunchtime on the South Slope there are the same problems with the capacity of the cable car as last year, so we recommend going there in the morning.

To the left of the Edelweiss cable car (when viewed from below), the blue Alpika track appeared, along which it will be possible to come to Rosa Khutor from the Alpika resort - it is relevant for owners of a single ski pass (when it appears).

Evening skiing

This season the resort has increased the number of illuminated slopes! In addition to the green (training trails) - "Chalet" and "Juventa", the blue trail "Rosa Blade" and the red "Rosa Star" will be available. Night skiing has always been attractive with less crowded slopes and fresh velveteen, and now with a variety for riders of different levels of skiing.

Open daily (starting December 26, 2017) from 19:00 to 22:45, weather permitting. The cost of a ski pass is 1250 rubles. or +650r. if you have a day ski pass for that day.

The ski season at the Gorki Gorod resort is open from December 2, 2017.

Operation of ropeways and tracks

The slopes of the resort are open during the day from 08:30 to 16:30. Evening skiing from 18:00 to 23:00

What's new?

Trails and lifts

This season, the resort will have two new training areas with green trails for those who are just planning to get up on skis or snowboards. These tracks will be equipped with ski lifts. One zone will be located in the eastern sector to the left of the Polikarya Waterfall lift (K13), and the second in the central sector next to the Snow Star lift (K8).

The "Eastern Sector" was finally connected to the "Central Sector" - the blue route 13T in the area of the avalanche dam. This will definitely make it easier to move around the resort. Previously, the red track 2C which started from 1500m. up to 960m. this year it turned into a blue 2F, it became more gentle due to additional serpentines, and, accordingly, longer -  1.2 km, with a vertical drop of 470 meters. A small black patch 2C appeared next to it.

The resort has 4 dedicated zones (of which only one is open so far), where off-piste skiing will be allowed: 2 in the Central and 2 in the Eastern sector of the resort. On the map, these zones are marked as black trails with a blue stroke. Now freeride will be officially allowed in these areas. They will be served by the rescue service. All of them are above 1000 meters above sea level. These sections are very difficult and unpredictable and you can ride them with special training and equipment.

Tracks 2B and 2D in the Central Sector will be closed for the upcoming season. A landslide came down in this place in the spring, the slope was strengthened in the autumn, but the tracks will not open this season, this area is forbidden to visit. We do not recommend taking risks.

Evening skiing

Closed until next winter season.

Only routes 8A and 8E are open, access to which will be provided by the Snezhnaya Zvezda lift K8 and the K9 drag lift.

Night skiing will be available daily from 18:00 to 23:00, weather permitting. The cost of a ski pass is 950 rubles. (08.01–11.03 excluding holidays), 1050 rub. (February 23–25), 1000 rub. (12–31.03)

As well as…

Guests will have access to:

  • (skiing on cheesecakes) - at an altitude of 960m. (closed for the season)

Quick jump to the desired section:

Trail map Krasnaya Polyana Rosa Khutor

The new complex with a pronounced sports purpose will be of interest primarily to skiers who ski well. The vast majority of slopes are blue marked. But one of the longest trails, originating almost at the very top of the ridge, belongs to the increased category of difficulty. In addition, an interesting slope with a variety of terrain provides opportunities for freeriding.

Children and beginners will also like Rosa Khutor. Ski slopes for beginners are quite long here. This allows you to make an interesting ski trip even with minimal skiing skills. However, green runs have a number of intersections with more difficult descents. Therefore, it is better for beginners not to travel alone.

You can feel safe and confident in the Kids Club. There is a convenient modern lift - "magic carpet". It resembles a familiar escalator and quickly delivers children to the top of the slide. Teaching children to ride a professional instructor. And parents at this time have the opportunity to calmly conquer the Lesnaya track.

Thus, Rosa Khutor is attractive for all categories of tourists.

Trail map Krasnaya Polyana Gornaya Karusel

The sports and tourist complex "Gornaya Karusel" is an Olympic facility. A large media village is being built, hotels, shopping and entertainment centers, sports grounds, etc. are being built. The total area of ski slopes in Krasnaya Polyana will be 135 hectares, and the length will be 70 km. It offers vacationers 6 green, 8 blue, 16 red and 6 black slopes.

In the 2010-2011 season, 3 lines of a brand new gondola-type cable car operated as part of the complex, serving several options for slopes for well-trained skiers. Since 2013, the lift to the foot of the Black Pyramid has been operating. A small slope where beginners can practice is located in the area of the second stage.

Complex Gornaya Karusel attractive in that it is located closest to the residential sector, in the village of Esto-Sadok, within walking distance from some hotels. However, the snow in this part of the range melts the fastest. Thus, in a good, skiable condition, most often there is only the topmost track, marked with a red level of difficulty.

A detailed description of the infrastructure of the complex and prices for the lift can be found on the page Gornaya Karusel Krasnaya Polyana.

Difficult track. A separate track under a separate, unconnected lift in the area of the 3rd stage of the main complex.

2. Control your speed.
It is no coincidence that the tracks are automobile and ski. On a slope, as on a road, most collisions are due to speeding. Namely, because of exceeding the threshold beyond which a skier or snowboarder can control this speed. Before starting the movement and in the process, correctly assess your abilities, terrain features, weather conditions and the density of the slope loading by skiers. Slow down is necessary in crowded places, on narrow sections of the route, in poor visibility, on the edge of a steep slope, next to lifts and at the end of the route.

3. Choose a route.
Just like on the highway, the driver in front has priority. Therefore, the skier or snowboarder who is behind must choose such a trajectory of movement so as not to create any danger for those descending down the slope. To do this, it is enough to keep the distance necessary to perform any maneuvers, including a possible fall.

4. Overtaking.
When overtaking, you must also keep your distance and maneuver at a sufficient distance for safety. The distance is necessary not only to overtake moving skiers, but also to bypass vacationers.

5. Departure to the track, the beginning of the movement and movement up the slope.
Look up and down the slope before you start driving and hitting the slopes and assess the situation correctly, as well as your position relative to other skiers. Carving skis and snowboards allow you to turn up the slope, against the general movement. Snowboarders and skiers must be especially careful when making these maneuvers.

6. Stop on the track.
Stops on narrow or poorly visible sections of the track are prohibited (except in extreme situations). After the fall, it is necessary to leave this place as soon as possible (if possible), leaving nothing on the slope. You can rest or move on foot only at the edge of the track.

7. Ascent or descent on foot.
Do not create obstacles for skiers. Walk only along the edge of the road. In addition, footprints spoil the slope and can cause injury.

8. Observe trail markings.
Check out the trail map before heading out onto the slope. Do not go on slopes that are not suitable for your level of training. Do not ignore the prohibition signs or ride on closed trails.

9. Assistance in case of accidents.
In the event of an accident, riders are required to provide any possible assistance to the injured. For all athletes, one of the most important is the principle of assistance and assistance in case of accidents, regardless of any legal obligations. In the event of an accident, it is necessary to provide the victim with first aid, notify the relevant services and in some way mark the scene in order to warn other riders.

10. Identification of participants in the incident.
Every skier or snowboarder who witnesses or participates in an incident must share contact information with other witnesses or participants. Only full and accurate testimonies of witnesses will help to restore the picture of the incident. Rescue reports and photographs are of considerable value in determining the measure of responsibility.

Karusel also tries to be in trend, but the resort is more likely to be designed for a more mature and serious audience. Here the hotels are more expensive and there are more decent restaurants.

Off-piste skiing is not much inferior to Rosa Khutor - this season they even opened a special freeride track, which is not wasted after a snowfall, but in some places there are signs "Skating off-piste is prohibited!". Rumor has it that local avalanche officers can even take away a ski pass if they see how famously you draw lines in snowy couloirs and forests, but in practice we have not seen this. The forests here roll out much more slowly than on Rosa Khutor, and even in snowless periods on the Karusel there is where to have fun - if you know the places.

The main advantage of the Mountain Carousel is night skiing on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. These days from 18:00 to 23:00, there are two lines of the lift, and a decent section of the route is illuminated with a length of a whole line. So if you didn’t ride for the day or for some reason missed the day skiing - you are here!

Where to ride: The red runs here are quite sharp, so it is better for beginners to choose the blue ones. Off-piste it is better to go only if you know well where to go.

The cost of a daily ski pass is from 1200 to 1800 rubles, depending on the season

Where to rent equipment: rental here is at the very bottom of the lift building and one line up, on the main street of the upper Gorka Gorod.

The cost of renting a set of equipment is from 1200 to 2000 rubles per day

Ski resort, Downhill skiing, Snowboarding

This place stands a little apart, the resort opened in 2008 and immediately earned a reputation for being expensive and prestigious.

Of the pluses - the most beautiful views, nature is simply mesmerizing with its beauty, there is even an outdoor pool at the top of the mountain. So for instagram lovers, this is just a real paradise. In addition, the village has an excellent entertainment center "Galaktika", where there is a bowling alley and a water park, but this refers more to entertainment than to skiing.

In terms of elevation differences, Gazprom is clearly inferior to its neighbors - the highest point is 1400 meters, so the snow melts there, as a rule, faster. The tracks, for the most part, are gentle, uncomplicated, which is very suitable for beginners or for family outdoor activities. Experienced skiers and snowboarders may be bored, although you can try skiing in the forest, Gazprom regulars are unlikely to leave the slopes and everything will not be rolled out there.

The resort also has night skiing, however, in terms of the length of the slopes, it is much inferior to skiing on the "Gorki", again, it is more suitable for beginners.

You will ride among centuries-old firs, which in itself is the height of pleasure. The landscape of the tracks is also diverse, and it was not for nothing that the Freeride World Tour freeride competitions were held at this resort.

Local snow is also called "powder" - so much riding on it gives a feeling of flight. And according to some reviews, you have to go to Rosa Khutor to do freeride.

Where to go besides skiing

You won’t be “full” by one skating: you need to do something and in the evening. In addition to boring shopping and restaurants, Rosa Khutor has something really interesting to offer.

indoor ice rink

You don't need to bring your own skates, you can rent them. The skating rink is open until late, the ice is excellent. It's great to ride on the same ice that the athletes skated on during the Olympics.

Attractions of the Rosa Khutor resort

The attraction itself is the Mzymta River with its bridges(of which there are five and each has its own name: Romanov Bridge, Myshkin Bridge, Barsov Bridge, Peshkov Bridge). Almost everyone notes some kind of European spirit of the resort, someone compares Rosa Khutor with Karlovy Vary.

Separately, I would like to say about City Hall in Rose Square. This is the visiting card of the ski resort. It houses the restaurant "Ratusha", the cultural and ethnographic center "My Russia" and other objects.

Resort safety

The safety of the resort is carefully monitored. All lifts have been developed by leading companies in the field. An avalanche service, a ski patrol and a medical center operate regularly.

Ratrackers regularly drive along the slopes and check the snow cover, icy areas.

But if you go off the track, you are responsible for your safety.

extreme park

The Extreme Park was built for the XXII Olympic Games to host snowboarding and freestyle competitions. The territory of the park is divided into two centers: snowboard center and freestyle.
