We make beautiful topiaries with our own hands. DIY tree from tree branches: ideas, diagram, instructions DIY decorative trees

Surely many people want to have a tree of happiness at home. In the master classes we will tell you how to make topiary from napkins, coffee beans and corrugated paper.

It is believed that topiary is a tree of happiness. Such a gift would be appropriate for any holiday. For the New Year, you can make a tree and decorate it with tinsel and garlands. On Valentine's Day, it would be nice to give your other half a topiary on which hearts and valentines “grow”. The tree presented below will never wither, and such a gift will delight the person to whom you present it for a long time or will become another attribute of the comfort of your home.

To create such a delicate, graceful tree, you will need the following materials:
  • corrugated paper in pink and green;
  • foam ball;
  • PVA glue;
  • wooden stick;
  • scissors;
  • spray paint;
  • satin ribbon;
  • decorative moss;
  • floral sponge;
  • flower pot or flowerpot.

To make roses from corrugated paper, cut it into strips 24 cm long and 3-4 cm wide.

The size of the paper tapes may be different. It all depends on what size you plan to make the composition and flowers.

Now fold the large edge of the paper strip over about a third of its width.

Starting from the small side, twist the workpiece as shown in the photo.

In this case, twist the lower edge of the tape more tightly, and the upper, bent edge, a little looser. Then it will be seen that the rose petals are blooming.

Glue the flower using PVA to the top of the ball. In the same way, you need to make other roses from corrugated paper and attach them to the base.

Try to glue the flowers as close to each other as possible. Decorate the entire foam sphere in this manner.

If you don't have a foam ball, replace it with a plastic one. You can twist the paper, tie it with string to achieve a round shape and use this as a base.

This is what you should have after all the flowers have been glued. If you want the leaves to set off the pink color, make them from green crepe paper, but the stripes should be shorter and slightly narrower than the rose ribbons.

We continue to create topiary from corrugated paper. Having cut the floral sponge to fit the diameter of the flowerpot, we place it inside the pot.

Pre-paint the wooden stick and let it dry. Stick this blank into the ball with one side and into the sponge with the other, secure it in these places with glue so that the structure holds better.

Hide the sponge under a small layer of decorative moss, tie a satin bow to the strip, and then you will have a beautiful topiary made of corrugated paper.

A child can make such a tree under the strict guidance of his father and give it to his mother or grandmother on March 8th. This creation will decorate the holiday table. If you make several of these trees, they will fit perfectly into the interior of the room where you are celebrating a wedding or having a fun party.

To make roses blend in with their surroundings, you can make them from corrugated paper of a different suitable color.

How to make roses from corrugated paper?

In order to decorate our tree in this way, we will twist the roses for it using a knitting needle. Right now you will learn how to make such flowers with your own hands and decorate your topiary with them.

For needlework you must have:

  • paper napkins;
  • knitting needle;
  • scissors;
  • spool of thread;
  • glue gun or Titan glue;
  • wand;
  • corrugated paper.
To make paper flowers, unfold the napkin. They are sold folded in four. Cut along the folds so that you get 4 squares from one.

Buy the cheapest and simplest single napkins. And you will not only be able to save money, but also make flowers, the blanks for which can be draped perfectly.

Place the first square on the table, and on one side of it, which is closer to you, a knitting needle. Moving away from you, begin to wrap the napkin around it, not reaching the edge opposite 3-4 cm.

Slide the opposite ends of the resulting roll towards each other, and then carefully remove the napkin from the knitting needle.

Now, starting from one edge, roll this workpiece into a roller. In this case, the roller should be at the top, and the free, unwrapped side should be at the bottom. Attach exactly the same second blank to this one and continue twisting the corrugated paper rose in a spiral.

Depending on how magnificent you plan to make the flower, you will need 3-5 blanks from which you will make one rose.

This is how beautiful the paper flower turned out.

Tie it from below with a thread, and cut off its “tail”.

To make topiary leaves, place 2 green napkins, one on top of the other, diagonally, as shown in the photo.

Crumple them into a ball and tie them at the bottom with thread.

We create a lush tree from flowers

Now we need to assemble the topiary from blanks and other materials. This can be done as in the case of a corrugated paper tree. Wrapping paper is quite suitable for the base of this. It needs to be crumpled into a ball and tied with twine. All kinds of office drafts and unnecessary papers will do. The main thing is to give the workpiece a round shape, leveling it. Then glue napkins on top and let the ball dry.

Now glue leaves and flowers onto the resulting blank.

Well, you read above how to attach a stick to an already decorated ball and put it in a pot.

A floral or regular sponge can be draped not only with decorative moss, but also with bags like these made from green napkins. To do this, they are folded diagonally and the corner is fastened with a stapler.

This is the wonderful result of creativity that comes out at the end of the work.

Other options for corrugated paper roses

If you want fluffier flowers, check out another way to create a napkin topiary.

For this process you need the following equipment and materials:

  • napkins of the desired color;
  • scissors;
  • small sheet of cardboard;
  • stapler;
  • glue.
To make flowers, fold the napkin in half twice and secure in the middle with a stapler. Cut out a round template from cardboard, attach it to a folded napkin and cut it according to it.

Crumple the top layer of the napkin at the base. Then, the second and subsequent layers.

If you want to finish this work quickly, then crumple 2 layers at a time. If you have a ball with a diameter of 20 cm, then you need to make 48 blanks from napkins to cover it all with flowers.

If you don't have a tree trunk stick, then you can make a paper topiary without one. In this case, simply place the round ball blank in a flower pot or basket made from newspapers.

Now, using a heat gun or glue, attach the flowers you made yourself to the ball. Start with the first bottom row, gradually moving up. If you alternate roses like this, creating a topiary with your own hands (the following step-by-step photo demonstrates the process), then you will get an amazing flowering tree.

You can decorate a basket or pot with satin ribbons, and you will get such an amazing result.

DIY gift - heart made of grains

Here is another example of how you can make topiary with your own hands. The master class will explain every step of the needlework process.

Such a topiary can be made and presented not only to your soulmate on Valentine’s Day, but also as a gift to a dear person, a relative on February 23, on your birthday, or to a friend on March 8.

To create such a fragrant coffee topiary, you will need:

  • twine;
  • brown satin ribbon;
  • coffee beans;
  • glue;
  • cup and saucer;
  • brown paint;
  • alabaster or plaster;
  • thick brown threads;
  • anise stars.
Cut the base blank for the heart from polystyrene foam or make it from polyurethane foam. You can also make it from cardboard, newspapers, giving it the desired shape. Now cover the heart with brown paint and let it dry. Then wrap the workpiece with brown thread, forming a loop at the top.

Glue 2 rows of grains onto the sides of the heart, placing them flat side down. After that, fill the middle in the same way.

In order for the workpiece to be voluminous and the base not to show through, glue a second layer of grains on one side and the other with the slits facing upwards. The final touch of this step is gluing the star anise in the center.

And then he tells how to make a topiary with your own hands, a master class. Take a piece of wire and wrap its base around the leg of a table or chair. Bend it as shown in the photo and wrap it with twine, gluing each section of rope to the wire.

Bend the end of the wire with larger turns, attach a heart made of coffee beans here, putting it on the loop.

Pour alabaster or plaster into a container that you don’t mind throwing away later, add water to get the consistency of sour cream. Place the lower part of the wire in the cup, fill it with the resulting mass, leave to completely harden, leveling the surface. When this happens, glue 2 layers of grains on top.

How to make a coffee tree with your own hands?

If you liked creating with such interesting material, create another topiary from coffee beans. It is performed almost according to the same principle as the previous one, but a ball is taken as the basis.

Here's what you need to prepare before you start:

  • coffee beans of even shape;
  • ball with a diameter of 8 cm;
  • flower pot or other suitable container;
  • glue gun;
  • a plastic tube 25 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter (if you don’t have one, use a piece of plastic pipe or a wooden stick;
  • alabaster;
  • nylon and satin ribbon;
  • Double-sided tape;
  • scissors;
  • container for mixing the solution.
Use scissors to make a hole in the ball that matches the diameter of the tree trunk. Glue the coffee beans to this sphere, trying to place them close to each other.

You can leave the ball like this, but it is better to glue a second row of grains to it, placing them in stripes up. Then a coffee tree made by yourself will look more attractive and aesthetically pleasing. This is what you should have at this stage.

Now wrap double-sided tape around the stick or tube, not reaching both ends by 3 cm, and tape over it.

To measure how much water is needed for the solution, pour it into the container in which the coffee topiary will be located. Then pour it into a bowl for mixing the solution, add alabaster and stir well. The consistency of the solution will resemble thick sour cream.

Immediately transfer the resulting mass into a pot and place a tree of coffee beans in the center of it. When the solution has hardened, stick first one and then a second row of grains on its surface, in the same way as we did above - first with the strip down, and then the second row with the strip up.

Apply glue to the top of the stem and fit the hole of the round blank onto it.

All that remains is to decorate the crown with anise stars, tie a bow, and the magnificent coffee tree is ready.

If you liked the lessons on making topiary, you want to see clearly how to make a coffee tree with your own hands with a crown in the shape of a heart or a ball, watch two videos. And the third will give inspiration, suggesting many ideas for creating topiary from napkins:

The Great Roman Empire left humanity a legacy not only of an aqueduct and baths. Great aesthetes and masters of landscape design, the Hellenes were proud of their decorative places - topia, topiaries, or skillfully trimmed tree and shrub compositions.

Modern topiary is a miniature that imitates a neatly trimmed tree. The compositions decorate the interior, formed in absolutely any style. They create a miniature topiary with their own hands from paper, fresh flowers, bird feathers, beads, rhinestones, coins, and even coffee beans.

The meaning of the European floristic tree of happiness, as topiary is called, is not only decorative. The miniature symbolizes wealth, fertility and strong spirit, pouring out the energy of happiness. A small tree tends to enhance the energy potential of the entire house, no matter in which room it is installed.

Manufacturing technique

In European countries, it is customary to give topiaries for any occasion - for weddings and name days, housewarming and New Year. Friends are given a miniature tree for no reason at all, but from the bottom of their hearts, when paying another visit. Moreover, all crafts are made by hand.

Topiaries are quite simple to make. Mini-trees consist of three parts - a crown and a trunk, fastened together and installed in a container. Pots, stands or baskets of various shapes are used as a base.

The crown can be round, oval, heart-shaped, letters or numbers. But most often they make topiary with a spherical crown.

The trunk is a strong thick wire or branch entwined with twine, bright floral ribbons or colored plastic. In some cases, a thicker branch is used as a trunk. The bark is removed from it, etched with stain and varnished.

Themed decor

Ideas for topiary can be varied and fantastically beautiful, reflecting all kinds of artistic ideas of the author, and most importantly, created with your own hands. For example, when setting a festive table, paper mini-trees decorated with sweets, fresh flowers or fruits are used. Themed topiaries are made for the New Year's table. Their crown consists of cones, organza, satin ribbons, and artificial flowers.

Contrasting shades of blue, green and red in the decorative elements of topiary are perfectly emphasized by silver and gold threads. And flowers or figures in pastel colors will wonderfully set off the shiny elements in the topiary crown.

It is important to come up with a theme and choose beautiful material. The miniature should reflect its purpose and express the idea that prompted its creation. Shells, feathers, strings of beads and small coins allow you to create delicate, love-filled mini topiaries. Coffee and cereal beans, artificial flowers, lace and organza are suitable for creating compositions designed to decorate the kitchen space.

For classical If the interior of the house is designed in gray tones, a topiary created from satin ribbons in blue or cool blue shades is perfect. For rooms decorated with sunny tones, compositions in dark colors are made.

Details and elements

The trunk of a mini-tree plays not only a load-bearing role. In general terms of the composition, the trunk should be kept in the same spirit, both with the base and emphasize the splendor of the crown. Therefore, the trunk must be given appropriate attention - the material for its finishing must be carefully selected. If a bitch is chosen, then the tone of the stain with which it will be impregnated and matte or glossy varnish is selected. The coverage depends entirely on the type of composition.

The base can be of various shapes and made from any material - a small ceramic flowerpot or a fancy-shaped glass cup. In some cases, topiaries are placed in baskets, such as decorations for the Easter table.

All parts are firmly attached to each other. The crown is glued, and the trunk is fixed in the vessel with pieces of foam plastic and filled with alabaster for strength. It should be remembered that alabaster hardens very quickly. Therefore, the consistency of the gypsum solution should resemble liquid sour cream. Then it will be easier to work with the material.

The crown is fixed to the trunk only after the gypsum solution has completely dried. During this time, the crown is made. To form the crown, use hot glue to secure flowers, pins and skewers. After which the topiary is finally assembled.

  • Sintepon.
  • Brown threads.
  • Gel pen refill.
  • A small pot for the base.
  • Orange beads for decoration.
  • Green corrugated paper.

We will get some semblance of a wooden rug. We put a narrow strip of glue on it in the middle and wind the sticks into a tube. We wrap the entire structure with thread tails and secure it with a knot. For reliability, they can be glued together.

Step 2. Carefully insert the resulting trunk with the sharp edges of the sticks into the hole on the ball and place it on the glue. You can first pour cereal inside the ball to make the tree “talking”.

Step 3. Glue the blank to the bottom of the pot.

Step 4. Paint the tree trunk brown. It is better to paint the ball itself green to create additional volume for the leaves.

Step 7 Decorations. We make small oranges from orange beads. We plant them in random order on the crown of the tree (secure with glue). You can also decorate the pot of our topiary with beads.

The orange tree is ready!

The tools we will need are a glue gun, scissors and double-sided tape. Stages of work:

Step 1. Pot. We decorate the pot with red fabric, which we secure with tape. We lay a floral oasis or polystyrene inside.

Step 2. Trunk. In the center of the pot we fix the trunk of the future tree. If there is no branch, you can install a cardboard tube, pre-wrapped with yellow satin ribbon. We decorate the junction of the trunk with sisal or tinsel.

Step 3. The upper part of the trunk is placed on a ball of polystyrene foam or a floral oasis (we first give it the shape of a circle). We tie the attachment point with a satin ribbon.

Step 4. We glue toothpicks to the Christmas balls and place them in the base ball.

Step 5. Decor. Using toothpicks, insert pine cones, small Christmas tree decorations, toys, beads, and tinsel into the free spaces between the balls. For reliability, we glue them together.

We create bonsai

The tradition of creating bonsai was born in Ancient China more than two thousand years ago. The name “bonsai” is written in two hieroglyphs, which mean “bowl” and “tree”. Later, already in Japan, the unusual method was actively developed and rose to the rank of fine art. It was the Japanese who brought the method to perfection, creating a special system of canons and proposing rules for exposure. Miniature trees are an aesthetic pleasure for perfectionists. Many people claim that looking at an elegant bonsai, they are overcome by an extraordinary feeling of calm, tranquility, and anxiety goes away, as if by magic. Decorate the world around you, try your hand at creating amazingly beautiful products.

Bonsai varieties

Bonsai

Do you want to create a luxurious miniature garden at home that does not require special care? Then an interesting master class will help beginners in creating a bonsai tree with their own hands. Step-by-step instruction:

  1. We select materials for work. Any gifts of generous nature will be needed: intricately curved twigs, driftwood, juniper, spruce or pine branches, moss, reindeer moss.
  2. We preserve the branches. For processing, we will prepare a special solution consisting of denatured alcohol, acetone, and glycerin. We take everything in the exact proportion 1:1:2.

Important: The solution for preserving natural materials should be stored in a tightly closed container, as it has a pronounced chemical odor.

Initially, we wash the branches under cold water, thoroughly cleaning them from dust and dirt, then place them in the solution for at least a week.

  1. Next, dry the decorative material and paint it if necessary. Let's reveal a little secret: before painting, you need to dip the branches in hot paraffin, the treatment will help to apply the paint evenly to the surface.
  2. Let's start making a decorative bonsai tree. Cut the branches to the required length and carefully glue each one to the base. To prevent the structure from falling apart, we will wrap the individual elements with wire; after gluing, it can be removed.
  3. We decorate individual areas with moss, reindeer moss, white sand or decorative pebbles. In our work, we will definitely designate the center of gravity of the structure in order to give the craft greater stability.

Creating a bonsai tree with your own hands

After completing the painstaking work, a unique live composition will open to your eyes. An eco-style bonsai will delight the eye for a long time; all that remains is to occasionally brush off the dust from the elegant creation.

Bonsai in a pot

We offer another way to easily make an artificial bonsai tree with your own hands. The operating algorithm is simple:

  • We select the container. A ceramic flower pot with holes for draining water is ideal.
  • Fill the pot with soil. The soil should not be collected from the yard. It’s better not to save money and buy a ready-made mixture at a flower shop. Why is this necessary if the tree is still artificial? We will be growing moss or lawn on top, so good soil is essential.
  • For the trunk of a decorative tree, we select a branch that is thick enough and intricately curved to resemble a spreading plant.
  • We attach the decor to the branches of the wooden frame. It can be made from matte paper, fabric, satin ribbons or any material. The more original the decor, the more spectacular the final result.
  • We plant the lawn mixture in the ground and water it generously daily. Very little time will pass, and under the original tree a bright and lush summer lawn will spread out.

By combining natural and synthetic materials, you can achieve unprecedented results in the art of bonsai, turning your favorite hobby into a successful business.

Many-faced topiary

The art of topiary is no less ancient, its origins go back centuries, when people came up with the idea of “playing” with nature, giving shrubs and trees in gardens a variety of shapes. Modern topiary is a stylish solution for budget but exclusive interior design. Skilled craftswomen are constantly looking for new ideas for creating decorative trees. A large flowering garden made with your own hands is a wonderful gift not only for yourself, but also for loved ones, friends, and colleagues. Cute gifts are very symbolic. Using this or that decor, you can create amazing things with your own hands.

Bright floral topiary - will be an excellent gift

Fragrant big baobab

Coffee trees are a separate “fragrant” caste in the art of topiary. There are several variations on this theme, but we offer a lesson on how to easily make a large tree with your own hands. To work, you will need several small foam spheres, a package of coffee beans, thick linen yarn, a pot stand, glue, and scissors.

If you don’t have a ready-made base at hand, you can make it yourself using the papier-mâché method. Work algorithm:

  • Let's prepare 7 small base balls, generously coat each of them with glue. We begin to attach the grains with the flat side down. We move arbitrarily, in a circle, horizontally, vertically. The main thing is that there are no gaps between the elements. When the first layer has dried, repeat the process, but with the flat side of the grains facing up.
  • Making a trunk for a spreading baobab. Let's take a strong, thick wire, and tape branches of thin wire to it with tape. We bend it beautifully, giving the plant a bizarre shape.
  • We carefully wrap the branches and trunk with twine on top, making sure that each turn lies tightly to each other. To ensure that the rope holds firmly and does not slide down the smooth trunk, we coat the wire with glue.
  • We string coffee balls onto the branches, greasing the holes with superglue.
  • In a pot, mix gypsum with water to the consistency of thick sour cream, insert wood, and let the mixture “set.”

Important: For topiary, you need to choose a base ball of light weight so that the thin trunk holds the entire structure. A plastic hollow ball or Christmas tree toy is ideal.

DIY fragrant baobab

When the plaster has completely dried, we decorate the stand. You can put coins, decorate with moss or use floral sisal. For a thick and rich aroma, decorate the tree with cinnamon sticks and spicy star anise stars. The coffee tree is not only beautiful, but also symbolic: seven wonders of the world, seven days a week, seven colors of the rainbow - all this is not by chance! An original gift will definitely bring good luck, family and financial well-being to your home.

A child can make a simple but beautiful craft from pistachio shells and wire.

Original pistachio tree

Work algorithm:

  1. We make a hole in each pistachio shell with a gypsy needle.
  2. We cut thin copper wire into several small pieces, 15-20 centimeters long.
  3. We string a shell onto each branch, make a loop, and twist it. We fasten small branches together, 3-5 pieces each. The more such blanks you make, the more magnificent the crown of the decorative tree will be.
  4. We wrap the branches one by one to the trunk, securing them with construction tape or FUM tape.
  5. In order to give the product splendor and luxury, we will cover the entire surface with spray paint in gold or bronze color.
  6. Let's prepare the base. Add a mixture of alabaster and water to the pot, carefully insert the tree, and let the structure dry.
  7. Let's cover the alabaster with a layer of beautiful pebbles, golden beads or coins.

  • Pour a little liquid glue into the recess and secure the crown to the leg.
  • To decorate, tie a pink ribbon with a bow at the junction of the trunk and the crown. We mask the plaster in the pot with decorative grass.
